June 2013 News

13 May 2013

Welcome to the June 2013 edition of the Engineerica newsletter.  In this issue we are going to cover Attendance Tracking with RFID Technology, a Conference Tracker update, our July Orlando Training, and more!  Here is an index of the topics:

Simplify Attendance Tracking with RFID Technology

Are you looking for an easy and inexpensive way to track your students?  Then using RFID (Radio Frequency ID) might be for you!  It can reduce sign-in error and sign-in times by recording attendance when students bring the RFID tag within a proximity of about an inch from the reader.  The process is quick and there is no swiping or scanning involved.

Not only is it easy record attendance with the RFID tags but they are inexpensive to implement (less than 30 cents each for each key fob and the reader is less than $30 each).  The RFID tag provided is in the form of a compact and light weight key fob that can be attached to any keychain.  The readers are built well and are versatile in the way they can be implemented.  The RFID tags are great from a security standpoint as well as it does not carry any personal information so if it is lost there is no need to worry about compromised information.  The key fob can be easily replaced with a new one once it is reported.

User Spotlight

This is a new section that we are starting that highlights the users whom make our products spectacular!

This spotlight focuses on a person that has been helpful in implementing new ideas and features or using the software in interesting ways that we have never imagined.  This id
ea was sparked by our recent case studies as well as interacting with users in support who find the solutions that later get implemented in the software.  Aside from being featured in the Engineerica Newsletter they will also receive an Engineerica Gift Package.  This will include an assortment of useful Engineerica branded items.

This month's spotlight is on someone who keeps us in working toward a better Accudemia and iAccu product.  This month's spotlight shines on Ray Mercer of Columbus Technical College.  He submitted this video entry during the case studies that explained how he uses Accudemia as an integral part of the institution's Attendance tracking process.  He also has suggested ideas that were implemented for our add-on product iAccu which is used for tracking classroom attendance through Accudemia. Here is an excerpt from the video about how the products are used at his school:

"Accudemia and its app counterpart, iAccu, are the tools that we use to collect class attendance and center usage data. We have found iAccu most useful to us because of the simplicity of the interface and the lack of requirement for a continuous internet connection. Also when you are dealing with 60+ stations, trying to manage and maintain 60+ computers is not feasible. During our pilot phase, we used five laptops and that was a challenge to keep them up and running; and continuously connected to the internet. "

Thank you for being an exceptional user whom we have learned from and continue to improve our products based on your recommendations.
