Class Attendance Recording Options

AccuClass offers you several options for tracking class attendance.  You only need to use one of these methods, but which one is best for you?  This page will help answer this question.

(1) If you have a computer (PC or Mac, Desktop or Laptop) with a stable Internet connection (via network or Wi-Fi), AND:

a. You want to call the roll:

Then use a web browser (FireFox or Chrome are recommended) to sign in to your AccuClass account and call the roll.  Click here for detailed instructions

b. You want students to sign themselves in, AND:

1. you want quickest in/out recording:

Then connect an RFID reader to your computer and have students sign in by 'swooping' their RFID key fob (supplied by you) on the reader.  Click here for detailed instructions.

2. you want students to sign in/out with their student ID that has a magnetic strip with the student ID:

Then connect a mag strip reader to your computer and have students sign in by swiping their ID Card in the reader.  Click here for detailed instructions.

3. you want students to sign in/out with their student ID that has a barcode with the student ID:

Then connect a barcode reader to your computer and have students sign in by waving their ID Card in front of the reader.  Click here for detailed instructions.

4. you do not want to use a reader:

Then have students sign in/out by typing their ID number on the keyboard.  Click here for detailed instructions.

5. you want students to sign in/out themselves using their own device:

Then you can project a Sign In/Out QR code from your monitor for the students to scan via the AccuClass mobile app.

(2) If you do not have a computer or do not have a stable Internet connection in the classroom, AND:

a. You have or can get an Apple iPod touch, iPad,  iPhone, or Android device AND:

1. you want students to sign themselves in and out:

       Then use the AccuClass app on your Apple or Android device and put it in sign-in station mode. Have students sign in by scanning their barcode (also generated by AccuClass).  Click here to see a video example.

2. you want to call the roll:

Then use the AccuClass app on your Apple or Android device to call the roll. Click here for detailed instructions.

3. you want to sign students in/out by reading a barcode (supplied by you or on their ID card):

Then use the AccuClass app on your Apple or Android device and use the device's camera to record the attendance. Click here for detailed instructions.

4. you want to sign students in/out by swiping their ID card that has a mag strip with the student ID:

Then use the AccuClass app on your Apple or Android device and use a special mag strip reader to record the attendance. Click here here for detailed instructions.

5. you want to sign students in/out in the surrounding area using Bluetooth technology:

Then you can use the AccuClass app on your Apple or Android device to turn it into a "beacon", allowing your students (who are logged into the AccuClass app) to receive a notification on their phone to automatically sign in when they enter the range of your device.

b. You want to use a wall-mounted time clock to record the attendance:

Then use a time clock with one of the following options: keypad sign-in, mag strip reader, barcode reader, or RFID/Proximity reader.  Click here for a video showing sign in on a time clock with RFID option.  Click here for detailed instructions.

c. You want to use a sign-in sheet or paper to record the attendance and later enter it in AccuClass:

Then use the paper to track the attendance and later enter the data into AccuClass via the web roll call feature.  Click here for detailed instructions.
